Elian Leyva scheduled to pitch in Monday’s portion of the CPBL All-Star Game. (+Asian League Report)

Elían Leyva who is the only Cuban in the CPBL this season is slated to see action tomorrow in the second game of CPBL All-Star Game. The righty from Mayabeque, Cuba is slated to pitch the sixth and seventh innings of the contest and will take place in Taichung’s Intercontinental Baseball Stadium against the Taiwanese U-24 national team.

In today’s game the CPBL defeated the Taiwanese U-24 national team 6-3. On the season Leyva sports a 4-1 record, 3.05 ERA and has struck out 49 batters in 56 innings pitched.

In Japan Dayán Viciedo went 1 for 2, with a single and 2 walks, to raise his average to .238 in Chunichi’s 4-0 loss to Yomiuri. Although he has disappointed this year with his bat this season, he’s caught fire as of late.

Ariel Martinez went hitless in four plate appearances to cut diminish his average to .245 on the campaign in Nippon Ham’s 9-2 loss to Orix. The All-Star has really been a ray of light for the Fighters this season at the plate.

In Korea Guillermo Heredia collected a hit and scored two runs during his two trips to the plate to help SSG down Hawha 6-1. The Cuban outfielder is now hitting .333, leaving first in the KBO in that statistical category.
