J.P. Martínez collects first hit in MLB in Rangers’ win. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Julio Pablo Martínez swatted his first hit in the fourth inning and later on legged out a double, eventually scoring from second in the eighth inning to tie the game at one. The Rangers eventually went on to win the ballgame 3-2 and the outfielder now hits .364 on the season.

Aroldis Chapman contributed to the victory with a scoreless eighth in which he struck out three of the four batters he faced to watch his ERA to 2.28. The lefty from Holguín, Cuba has fanned 82 batters in 43 ⅓ innings.

Aledmys Díaz collected two hits in five trips to the plate and knocked in a run, but Oakland still dropped the contest 8-7. The infielder is now hitting .375 in his last seven games. Díaz has now knocked in 17 runs on the campaign.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr connected on a pinch-hit two-run homer to centerfield in the seventh inning to tie the game at four, a game which the Diamondbacks eventually won 5-4. The outfielder has now gone yard 19 times on the season and driven in 63 runs.
