Serie Nacional MVP Osday Silva has decided not to return to Cuba with national team after abandoning the country’s delegation at Copa del Caribe in Puerto Rico as per the colleague Francys Romero. With the defection of Franky Quintana earlier this week now makes it the second player to leave the team during the tournament.
Osday was elected as the MVP of the National Series 62 (“Martin Dihigo” Award) after an excellent tournament. The slugger slashed .336/.383/.608/.991, with, 18 homeruns,17 doubles, one triple, and 80 RBIs. He was also selected as the All-Serie Nacional team after his stupendous season. Silva seems to be leaving the island at the right time considering how high his stock is at the movement.

It is hard to guage the interest that the 28-year-old infielder will generate from MLB teams due to his advanced age and lack of facing top competition. One interesting tool that the slugger possess is a lot of raw power, something that is very coveted by plenty of major league organizations and other professional teams worldwide.
Although the Cubans won their first international competition in almost a decade they now limp into the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile light two more players after these defections and the injury withdrawals by Ariel Martínez,Raidel Martínez, Yadir Drake and Liván Moinelo but the ironic thing before this tournament was that the team decided against taking Yunieski García to the competition after flagging him as a possible flight risk.
