Miguel Romero shines in his Liga ARCO debut. (+Winter League Report)

Miguel Romero took the mound for the first time in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico and was masterful. The right-hander from Guantánamo, Cuba tossed six innings in which he only yielded a run and fanned six to notch his first win in the circuit. Romero’s repertoire was sharp on the evening and his fastball topped out at 95 mph.

Cuban-American Peter O’Brien also aided the cause by swatting a two-run homer in the sixth inning to put an exclamation point on Culiacán’s 4-3 win over Ciudad Obregón. The outfielder is starting to find his stride after a slow start to the winter and now has three RBIs on the campaign.

Ronald Bolaños made an erratic debut for the season in Los Mochis’ 5-3 win over Hermosillo. The righty pitched four innings were he allowed one run via three hits and struck out three. Bolaños who didn’t factor in the decision issued an alarmingly high five walks on the evening.
