Right-hander Carlos Juan Viera will join the Liga Venezolana Béisbol ‘s Caribes de Anzoátegui after he completes his participation with Cuba in the Pan-American Games. The acquisition of the hurler adds another experienced arm to the tribe’s pitching staff.
Viera who is a veteran of the winter leagues has a 6-11 record and 4.03 ERA in four seasons in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico with Los Mochis, Monterrey and Aragua.
This summer he pitched in the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol with the Olmecas de Tabasco posting a 5-3 record, 3.81 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 56 ⅔ innings pitched. Viera will join fellow Cuban righty Edgar Escobar on the Caribes roster.
