Henry Urrutia collected a hit in five trips to the plate and knocked in a run to aid the Gigantes del Cibao in their 5-0 blanking of defending league champion Licey. The defending league batting champion is hitting .250 on the season, but in his three seasons in the LIDOM he hits a solid .293.
In México Félix Pérez swatted a run-scoring single in his five at-bats and drove in a Jalisco’s 7-6 loss to Ciudad Obregón. Although he is hitting a miniscule .185, the slugger from the Isle of Youth has now knocked in five runs on the campaign.
In Venezuela Yoel Yanqui smacked a hit in five tries and also scored a run in Lara’s 9-8 win over Margarita on Opening Night in the LVBP. Yanqui played in the circuit last season with Magallanes hitting .232 with a honer and seven runs batted in before he was released by the ballclub.
