Adeiny Hechavarria is slated to return with the Gigantes de Carolina this winter as per the team’s press department. The infielder was a big part of the squad’s offense last year hitting .322 in 19 games with the Puerto Rican League’s runner-up. This summer his split time with Long Island of the Atlantic League and the Royals’ Triple-A affiliate Omaha, hitting .297 and .221 in each stop.
In other news Carlos Juan Viera has decided not to participate in the LVBP with the Caribes de Anzoategui due to a minor injury and extreme fatigue. The right-hander from Las Tunas has had a three-year stretch where he has pitched in the Mexican League, Winter Leagues and International Circuit with no rest. Last winter he was 1-3 with a 3.94 ERA in seven outings with Monterrey.
In the case of Yurisbel Gracial the Cuban Federation and the Venados de Mazatlán are in discussions on when or if the infielder-outfielder will report to the team. Gracial who is recuperated from a minor injury he suffered at the Pan-American Games was expected to report in mid-November before the setback.
