Raúl Valdés made his record setting 150 start in the Dominican Winter League and was magnificent. The Cuban lefty tossed 6 ⅔ innings in which he gave up an earned run via six hits and struck out three in the Toros’ 7-1 win over Licey. Valdes also won his 54th game in the circuit and saw his ERA fall to 2.87 on the campaign.
Yasiel Puig who now sports a modest four-game hitting streak drove in a run in four trips via a ground out and singled on the evening to do his part in las Estrellas 4-3 win over the Águilas. The outfielder who is red-hot over the last week is now hitting .344 on the campaign.
In México Felix Pérez went yard for the fifth time on the season and knocked in two runs, but his best efforts couldn’t prevent Jalisco from dropping a 7-3 game to Los Mochis. The outfielder from the Isle of Youth is second in the Liga ARCO with 15 RBIs and watched his average jump to .213 on the season. Yasmany Tomás also deposited a ball in the seats for Los Mochis, his third on the season.
