Yanquiel Fernández went yard in his first winter league game, a two-run shot in the sixth inning of Ponce’s 9-6 win over the Criollos de Caguas. The highly rated Rockies prospect will be with the Puerto Rican squad this season in LBPRC in order to work on a few things in preparation for upcomimg Spring Training.
In the Liga ARCO Peter O’Brien went yard for the sixth time on the season, tying for the league lead in this category and drove in two runs to be the difference in Culiacán’s 2-1 win over Navojoa. The Cuban-American slugger has also now driven in 13 runs on the young campaign.
Ronald Bolaños tossed five innings of four-hit, two-run ball and securing his first win of the year in Los Mochis’ 8-2 thrashing of the Águilas de Mexicali. The Cuban hurler also fanned three hitters to watch his ERA ascend to 1.29 the season. The right-hander has easily been the team’s most effective pitcher in the early going.
