Slugger Rangel Ravelo made his way to the country three days ago and should be active with the Águilas Cibaeñas in the near future. Ravelo was supposed to start the season with the Dominican ball club, but an injury prevented his incorporation in the tournament.
The infielder-outfielder last played with the Águilas in 2021 hitting .303 in 30 games with the squad. Ravelo has seen action in the majors with the St. Louis Cardinals and had a brief stint in the Nippon League with the Orix Buffaloes. Expect the Cuban to be a big part of the team’s offense the rest of the season.

Cuban-American infielder “Coco” Montes has also joined the club in attempt to shore up the team’s defense up the middle. Montes debuted last season in the big leagues with the Colorado Rockies. The shortstop could also become a table setter in the Águilas potent offense.
In other news another Cuban-American, JC Escarra has been selected to the Puerto Rican Winter League All-Star game for the second consecutive season. The Ponce backstop has been a rock behind the plate for the team on defense and is batting .261 with a homer and six runs batted in on the campaign.
