Sources have confirmed to the Cuban Baseball Digest that infielder Yuli Gurriel has an open door to report to the Algodoneros de Guasave of the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico whenever he desires and per the same source a blank check with his name on it, too. The 39-year-old played with the Miami Marlins last season in a reserve role hitting .245 with four homeruns and 27 RBIs in 108 games.
As of today Guasave looks to be on sound footing to make the playoffs in the Mexican Circuit and the edition of Gurriel would solidify a lineup that also includes his countrymen Yadir Drake. He would also reunite with his ex-teammate on the Cuban National Team Michel Enriquez, who is the teams hitting coach. To be honest his joining the ballclub seems like a longshot, but the door is open for him at least for the season.
Also in the Liga ARCO Maikel Serrano of the Charros de Jalisco made the weekly All-Liga ARCO team after having an outstanding week at the plate and posting a .423 average over that span. This makes it the second time he has made the squad, the first time was with the Yaquis de Ciudad Obregón, who inexplicably released him hours after he selection. On the season Serrano is batting .355 with one homerun and 18 RBIs in 19 games.
