Ariel Miranda is the named Player of the Week in LVBP. (+Winter League News)

Ariel Miranda from Mayabeque,Cuba was selected as the Player of the Week in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, as announced by the LVBP press just a few hours ago. In his last two start Miranda worked 12.0 innings where he did not allow any runs and notched two victories over that span.

The left-hander from San José de las Lajas only allowed five hits in his two starts. Miranda proved to be a dominant pitcher as he struck out 18 opposing batters and only walked three in both starts against Magallanes. Of those five hits he allowed, only one was an extra-base hit (double), demonstrating that he is arguably amongst the best hurlers in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

Before being released in the LIDOM earlier this year, Miranda led the Águilas Cibaeñas rotation staff in strikeouts, innings, ERA and starts until his surprising release by the team. In his time in the Dominican Winter League he posted 1-1 record, 3.06 ERA and in 17.2 IP he fanned 19.

“El Miro” took 51 percent of the votes to win the title of Player of the Week. In third place was his teammate Yasiel Puig, who had a week where he hit .545 with an on-base percentage of .600 and a slugging percentage of .1000. During the week he hit four doubles and two home runs
