Also in México Yasmany Tomás hit his ninth homer of the campaign and drove in five runs to pace Los Mochis 9-2 victory over Culiacán. The reigning league MVP has now driven in 23 runs on the season. The slugger will be a key bat for Los Mochis down the stretch in defense of their title.
In Puerto Rico Orlando Rodríguez tossed four scoreless innings and fanned three to pace Carolina in their 5-4 win over Santurce. Adeiny Hechavarria laced a two-run double to also helped the cause for the Gigantes. The infielder watched his average to ascend to .282 on the season.
