Yunesky Maya was not selected in yesterday’s re-entry draft in the LIDOM his season is not over, the hurler signed with the Cardenales de Lara of the Venezuelan Professional Winter League.
Maya is a cult figure in Santiago with the Águilas Cibaeñas. Although the right-hander has pitched sparingly this season due to injury he is a big-game pitcher and has won the top pitcher in the league twice. Maya in 11 winter league seasons is 22-22 with a 2.84. The right-hander has been part of five championships in the LIDOM.
Maya has also won the pitcher of the year twice in the Dominican League (2010,2015) and has participated in six Caribbean Series. Although the pitcher is coming towards the end of his career he still has the talent to lead a club to the promise land and will definitely be a positive influence in the clubhouse for an aspiring championship team.
