The FCB tries to veto FEPCUBE in Barranquilla.

There is no depths to what the Cuban Baseball Federation will sink to prevent the FEPCUBE (Cuban Federation of Professional Baseball) from playing. In an official memo from the Federation of Colombian Baseball today it was revealed that the organization will not be allowed to use neither the Cuban flag or national anthem in the Intercontinental Series.

Now the question here is the legality of all this? Can a country ban a citizen from using their colors because the don’t agree with a state politically? This a question for the ages. Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are allowed to participate independently from the US as is Taiwan from China under a different flag even though they are laid claim to by a country.

In my opinion FEPCUBE should play under the Flag of Yara as Taiwan does under its own flag. The flag of Yara which resembles that of Texas, minus the inverted colors would be a perfect flag for FEPCUBE, with all due respect. Now getting back to the point at hand, it is visibly inherent that the government 90 miles away is moved and scared by the unity for this project.

My question is, what is the fear and why are you scared? America has its fair share of dissidents, yet they can sing the country’s anthem and/or fly its flag. As it did to Robeisy Ramirez in his boxing match in Japan, the Cuban Baseball Federation is trying its best to prevent a citizen or citizens of their country from flying its colors because it doesn’t agree with them politically. Not only does it makes this attempt undemocratic, it also makes this asinine and petty, nothing new for that government in Havana.
