Peter O’Brien goes yard in Culiacán’s loss. (+Winter League Report)

Although Peter O’Brien launched a key fourth inning two-run blast that tied the score at two in Game 2 of the playoff series between Culiacán and Mazatlán in a game the Tomateros went on to fall by a 5-3 and are now down 0-2 in the series. The slugger from Miami is now hitting .375 in the postseason and has gone three times during the extra phase of the Mexican tournament.

In Puerto Rico, Adeiny Hechavarria connected a hit in four trips and drove in a run to do his part in Carolina’s 3-2 win over Caguas in Game 1 of their finals series. Both teams will face tomorrow in the second game of the LBPRC championship series.

In the LIDOM, Jorge Martínez was masterful in las Estrellas 3-0 shutout of the Leones del Escogido and although he did not factor in the decision he tossed four scoreless innings and only surrendered four runs. The right-hander from Matanzas,Cuba now sports a sparkling 2.75 ERA in the postseason.
