With 20 foreign players allowed per roster their should a lot more Cubans should see action. The Conspiradores de Querétaro announced the signing of four more Cubans, bring their total to eight on the roster. A couple of days ago the team announced the signings of Leonys Martín, Rusney Castillo and Roberto Baldoquín. Yesterday they announced the signing of pitcher Miguel Romero. The right-hander was released by the Rieleros de Aguascalientes earlier this offseason.
Martín who at 35 is still great playing shape last played for the Chiba Lotte Marines of the NPB in 2022 hitting .163 with nine longballs and 25 RBIs in 75 games. In the case of Castillo who played last season in the Atlantic League with Staten Island and Long Island hitting .297 has plenty of experience in various leagues can play all three outfield positions.
Baldoquín who was in the Angels and Cardinals farm systems returned to Cuba this summer with Las Tunas and won a Serie Nacional title. The infielder also saw action in the Pan-Games with the Cuban national team. Romero has seen action this winter with Culiacán and La Guaira in the Mexican and Venezuelan leagues respectively. In eight starts this season Romero has a 3-3 record and 4.58 ERA.
