The Criollos de Caguas came back from a disappointing loss last night against the Tigres del Licey and walloped the Venezuelan representative, the Tiburones de La Guaira 6-2. Cuban-American JC Escarra starred on the afternoon for the Puerto Ricans collecting two hits in five at-bats, while also driving in and scoring a run.
Escarra had this to say when I asked him about his key first inning hit, “We came out hot and that’s what we needed after a disappointing loss to the Dominican Republic yesterday. That was huge and I think we kept that intensity the whole game.”

The team from borinquen is now tied with Venezuela for second place in the tournament, trailing only the undefeated Federales de Chiriqui in the standings. The Criollos will now face the undefeated Panamanian team tomorrow in hopes of tying atop the leader board with a win.
After an impressive win, PR now leaves today’s game with a lot of momentum heading into tomorrow’s clash with Panama ,”It’s huge that just tells us that we are one of the strongest teams in the tournament and we can beat anyone”, said the slugger about the momentum the team gained after today’s victory.
Venezuela on the other hand will face the Naranjeros de Hermosillo at 3:30 PM tomorrow in hopes of rebounding from a tough loss in their own right. Ex-big leaguer Jhoulys Chacin will take the mound for La Guaira in the contest.
