Yadiel Hernández swatted his first hit in the Serie del Caribe against Nicaragua three days at loanDepot Park, but this isn’t the first time he has collected a first at this stadium. The slugger from Matanzas, Cuba also laced his first double and swatted his first triple in the confines of the stadium in Little Havana.
“This park has been a key place for my career, it has marked key achievements during my time as a professional. I got my first hit here, hit my first double and now it’s where I get my first Serie del Caribe hit. It is definitely a special place for me,”said Hernández when I asked him about how this ballpark has been important for his career.

The Cuban slugger was a key figure for the Tigres del Licey in the LIDOM postseason is looking to become the first player to win a Serie del Caribe with a Cuban Serie Nacional team and another team from a Caribbean circuit. During the regular season with the Águilas Cibaeñas and during the playoffs with Licey the outfielder hit over .300, while also coming up with hits in key situations.
Hernández becomes only the second player to play with a Serie Nacional team in the Serie del Caribe and a squad from another Caribbean League, Yordanys Linares was the other when he did it with Villa Clara (Cuba) in 2014 and Mexicali in 2017. Regardless of what happens in this tournament Yadiel Hernández has already made history.
