Carlos Rodón looks dominant in his first spring outing. (Spring Training Report)

Carlos Rodón notched his first win of the spring in dominant fashion yesterday. The Cuban-American lefty tossed 2 ⅔ where he allowed a hit, an earned run and fanned five in the Yankees 12-6 win over the Bluejays. His fellow Cuban-American George Lombard Jr helped the cause with an eight inning two-run blast to seal the win for the bombers.

Brewers prospect Ernesto Martínez Jr also made his spring debut in Milwaukee’s 10-3 loss to Colorado. The power-hitting first baseman laced a run-scoring double in the bottom of the sixth amongst his two hits. The 24-year-old could start the season at Double-A and with a good showing possibly see the majors in September.

Ruben Cardenas had a perfect day at the plate in two trips for Tampa Bay in the team’s 9-9 tie with Detroit. The outfielder went yard for the Rays in the sixth and also knocked in a run via a double in the eighth inning to pace the offense. The Cuban- American is now perfect in four at-bats this spring and has driven in four runs.
