Néstor Cortés Jr makes his spring debut. (+Spring Training Report)

Néstor Cortés Jr made his spring debut, tossing 2⅔ innings of seven-hit, two-run ball and struck out four of the eight batters he faced on the day. The Cuban left-hander saw his first action since leaving the team late last season with an injury.

Aramis García cranked his first homer of the spring, a two-run shot in the sixth inning of the Phillies 7-6 loss to the Red Sox. The Cuban-American catcher who is in a battle for the backup catcher role for Philadelphia is hitting .600 on the season.

Jorge Soler also made his spring debut yesterday for San Francisco. The Cuban giant collected two hits in as many at-bats and drove in a run, but the Giants fell to the Angels 11-9. The slugger figures to add some much needed power to the Bay area squad’s lineup.
