Yandy Díaz knocks in two in Tampa’s loss. (+Spring Training Report)

Yandy Díaz laced a two-run single in two at-bats, but his hit in the third inning was not enough to help the Rays comeback from an early deficit and the floridians fell to Atlanta 12-9. The first baseman who had started off the preseason real slow watched his average rise to .167 on the spring.

César Prieto continues to hit the cover off the ball in his battle for a roster spot. The infielder collected a hit and knocked in a run in two trips to the plate, but St. Louis dropped a 3-1 decision to Washington. Prieto is now hitting a robust .444 on the campaign.

Cionel Pérez had a better second outing in Baltimore’s 9-8 win over the Pirates. The left-hander from Matanzas, Cuba tossed a perfect inning where he struck out a batter to watch his ERA descend to 18.00 on the spring. The hurler figures to be a key man out of the pen for the O’s.
