Andy Ibáñez goes yard in Detroit’s win. (+Spring Training Report)

Andy Ibáñez hit a longball in two trips versus his countrymen Nestor Cortés to the plate in the Detroit’s 7-2 victory over the Yankees. For the infielder it was his only RBI on the day and he also scored on an occasion. Ibáñez now has three homers on the spring.

Daysbel Hernández tossed a scoreless inning in which he struck out two of the three batters he faced in Atlanta’s 3-2 win over Philly. The right-hander from Pinar del Río, Cuba is looking good in his battle for a bullpen spot and now sports a 3.00 ERA on the spring.

Cuban-American Ruben Cardenas laced a two-run single to do his part in part in the Rays 4-4 tie with the Twins. The outfielder who is fighting for a roster spot is hitting a robust .429 on the season and is looking like a prime candidate for a backup spot for Tampa.
