Roenis Elías tossed two scoreless innings in his Spring debut, a 2-1 win versus the Wei-Chaun Dragons of the CPBL at Tawian’s Doryu Baseball Stadium. The left-hander from Guantánamo, Cuba was supposed to start on the 2nd of March, but his outing was postponed. Elías took the mound and looked in mid-season form with his vast repertoire.
Elías had this to say about his outing, “The results were better than I expected. I was satisfied with all my pitches, and the change-up was especially effective. I want to focus on fine-tuning my change-up before Opening Day. ”

Robert Dugger who followed Elías in the day had this to say about the lefty’s advice,” Elias pitched in the KBO league last year, he gave me a lot of advice on batting tendencies. In particular, he gives me a lot of tips on how to induce the opponent’s swing.”
Coming off a season where Elías went 8-6 with a 3.70 ERA, look for the lefty to feel more comfortable this year in the KBO and the results should show. With better knowledge of the hitters in the circuit and their tendencies the hurler could be en route to a 10 to 15 win season in Korea and could end up being the team’s ace.
