Miranda is immaculate in Campeche’s win. (+Mexican League Report)

Ariel Miranda was masterful on Opening Day for Campeche. The left-hander from Mayabeque, Cuba tossed five innings of five-hit, one-run ball to lead the Piratas to a 5-1 win over Tabasco. Miranda also fanned four and walked two on the evening to secure his first win of the season.

Miranda figures to be a big part of the team’s staff, maybe even the ace. Last season before his release he led the LMB in strikeout. This winter he was a key piece of the Tiburones de La Guaira in the LVBP and Serie del Caribe title.

Ronald Bolaños pitched three innings and gave up a run via a hit and fanned, but did not factor in México City’s 4-2 win over Puebla. The flamethrowing righty figures to also be in important figure in the league runner-up’s rotation.
