Yodelkis Quevedo: “My father has worked his butt off so I can get to where I am today.”

Yodelkis Quevedo is a phenom in every sense of the word. The 16-year-old infielder has been hitting 400-foot homeruns since the age of 14. The 6’1, 195 pound native of Sancti Spíritus, Cuba is amongst the top 65 players in the nation and boasts an array of physical skills.

Aside from his much hyped raw power, the young hitter boasts an immaculate 60 time of 6.63. Quevedo has a throwing speed of 94 mph from third to first. The exit velocity on some his hits have measured as high 101 mph. His titanic homeruns have earned the nickname “Mr. Power”.

Although he doesn’t have any college offers yet, sources tell me there are a lot of schools interested in the young slugger. This year will definitely be a pivotal year in the development of Quevedo. Expect to here a lot more in the coming months about this interesting young prospect.

How has training with Ricardo Sosa helped you mature as a hitter?

Training with Sosa has helped me develop as a player. He has helped me develop my swing, physically we have done plenty of work with strength and my agility.

How has your father’s dedication to your training helped you become a better player?

My father has worked his butt off so I can get to where I am today. His dedication has made me a better person and player. My father is my role model.

Would you be interested in playing for Team USA in the future?

I would love to play for team USA, one of my future goals is to represent my country in an international event.

How did you receive the nickname “Mr. Power”?

I acquired the nickname “Mr. Power” when I was 10 years old from my coach Julio Chiba. He saw me hitting long homeruns at the Grapeland Field and gave the name, which has stuck to this day.

What goals do you have for this year?

My goals for this year are to get ranked higher in the top 100, secure a Division 1 offer and showcase my talents to the world.
