Odrisamer Despaigne tossed six scoreless innings where he scattered eights and retired four via the strikeout to lead Yucatán to a 12-0 shutout of Campeche. The right-hander from Havana saw his ERA fall to 2.70 on the season.
Josh Fuentes and Lázaro Alonso helped the cause with homers. The ex-big leaguer Fuentes hit an inside-the-park homerun, while Alonso hit a titanic two-run ninth inning pinch-hit blast to close out the scoring.
Leonys Martín homered twice and for the third straight day, but his performance couldn’t prevent Querétaro from dropping a 5-2 decision to Veracruz. Even though the power-hitting outfielder is hitting a middling. 259 he now has five longballs to go with 10 runs batted in on the young season.
