More Cubans to play in the Liga Mayor.

With a record number of Cubans playing this season in the Venezuelan Liga Mayor, two more of their countrymen have joined the fray. Dariel Álvarez, Lorenzo Quintana and Reynaldo Álvarez will also make their way to the LMBP.

Quintana of the Senadores de Caracas played in the Astros and Marlins farm systems for four seasons hitting .276 with 51 homeruns, 190 runs batted in and slashed .333/.490/.823. The catcher-infielder was part of the Cuban team during the last World Baseball Classic and has plenty of experience in the winter leagues hitting .280 over four campaigns.

Dariel Álvarez on the other hand has seen the big leagues with the Baltimore Orioles and has made a career in the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol. The slugger has also been a stalwart in the winter leagues hitting .299 over seven seasons, including an MVP in 2020 with Charros de Jalisco in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico. The slugger will play for the Marineros de Carabobo.

Reynaldo Álvarez saw his first action outside of Cuba this winter in Venezuela with Magallanes. The 22-year-old righty from Santiago de Cuba will play with Carabobo this summer and has plenty of upside. The member of the U23 national team is 4-3 with a 2.86 earned run average in two seasons in the Serie Nacional.
