Adolis García swatted his 13th longball of the season, drove in two runs and also scored on an occasion to do his part in Texas’ 6-0 blanking of the Marlins. The slugger also knocked in his 40th run of the campaign leaving first amongst Cuban in that statistical category.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr went yard for the seventh time on the season in the first inning of Arizona’s 5-4 victory over the Mets. With that roundtripper he passed his brother Yuli in homeruns and is one short of 100 for his career. The native of Sancti Spíritus, Cuba has now driven in 32 runs on the season.
Nick Martínez pitched two scoreless innings in which he fanned three of the seven batter he faced to notch his second hold on the season. The righty helped secure a Cincinnati 5-2 win over the Cubs and saw his ERA descend to 4.20 on the season.
