Dayán Viciedo hit his first home run of the campaign in three at-bats, scored twice and drove in a run to contribute to the Chunichi Dragons’ 3-0 victory over the SoftBank Hawks at the Vantelin Dome in Nagoya. The first baseman, who had not homered since September 18, 2023, raised his average to .231 and his RBI total to 2.
His countrymen and teammate Raidel Martínez recorded his 18th save of the season after tossing a scoreless inning striking out two of the four batters he faced in relief. His ERA dropped to 1.00 and the right-hander leads the NPB’s Central League in saves.
In the KBO Guillermo Heredia collected two hit in four trips to the plate and knocked in two runs to do his part in SSG’s 4-0 shutout of Samsung. The outfielder is now hitting .382, leaving him first in the Korean circuit in that statistical category. The re-signing of Heredia has been big for the Landers offense.
