Raisel Iglesias saved his 19th game of the season after getting the last out of the Braves’ 7-3 win over the Rays. The native of the Isle of Youth now has six saves and 1.42 earned run average in his last seven appearances.
Adrián Morejón tossed a scoreless inning in relief during the Padres 2-1 loss to the Mets. The left-hander also walked a batter, but his ERA descended to 1.93 on the season. The reliever has only allowed an earned run in his last seven outings.
For the winners J.D. Martínez led the cause by lacing a two-run run-scoring double in the bottom of the third inning to make the difference in the outcome. The Cuban- American slugger has now knocked in 23 runs in 42 games on the campaign.
Lourdes Gurriel swatted two hits in four trips to the plate, drove in a run and scored a run to do his part in Arizona’s 7-1 victory over the White Sox. The outfielder is hitting a robust .300 over his last 15 games and leads all Cubans with 42 runs batted in on the season.
