J.D. Martínez went yard twice on the evening, his eight and ninth longballs of the campaign and knocked in three runs to lead the Mets to a 5-1 win over the Padres. The Cuban-American slugger has now driven in 11 runs over his last seven games and also hits .308 over that span.
Randy Arozarena swatted his ninth homerun of the year, his only hit in four trips to the plate on the evening in Tampa’s 9-2 loss to Atlanta. The outfielder also drove in a run and scored on the evening to see his average ascend to .175 on the season.
Yasmani Grandal swatted two hits in four at-bats and drove in a run , but his best efforts couldn’t stop the Pirates from dropping a 16-4 decision to the Rockies. The Cuban catcher has now driven in 13 runs on the campaign. Grandal now hits a miniscule .180 on the season.
