Although Jorge Soler slugged an eight inning grand slam, the Giants still fell to the Cubs 9-8. For the slugger it was his ninth longball of the season. Over his last four games Soler has gone yard twice and knocked in eight runs.
Daysbel Hernández continues to impress in relief for Atlanta. The right-hander tossed a scoreless inning in which he fanned two of the three batters he faced in the Braves’ 7-0 blanking of the Tigers. Since being called of from the minors the hurler has not allowed a run in five innings pitched and has struck seven over that same span.
Yandy Díaz and Randy Arozarena combined for four hits, an RBI and a run to do their part in Tampa’s 3-2 extra-inning win over Minnesota. For Díaz it was his 31st run batted in on the season, while Arozarena is starting to heat up with the bat hitting .302 over his last 15 games.
