Lázaro Alonso has been on a tear since joining Durango. The first baseman went yard for the fourth time on the season, a two-run bomb in the fifth inning of Durango’s 7-1 thrashing of the Sultanes de Monterrey. Since coming over from Yucatán Alonso has swatted three longballs.
Henry Urrutia knocked in two runs via a two-run seventh inning single to make the difference in Leon’s 6-5 win over the Olmecas de Tabasco. The slugger from Las Tunas, Cuba is now hitting a robust .323 on the season. Eddy Díaz added two RBIs also via a seventh inning double to help the cause.
Yoanner Negrín pitched 5.1 innings of three-hit, one-run ball in Yucatán’s 5-3 loss to Veracruz. The Cuban right-hander also fanned six and now sports a sterling 2.92 on the season. Negrín has won 80 games over his career in the LMB.
Yoan López tossed a scoreless inning in relief during Unión Laguna’s 7-5 win over Jalisco. The 2024 All-Star reliever saw his ERA descend to 1.12 on the campaign and is a premier reliever in the Mexican circuit. López has struck out 32 batters in 31.2 innings this season.
