Aroldis Chapman threw a ninth inning in which although he gave up a run he was able to close out the Pirates 4-3 win over the Rays. For the left-hander from Holguín it was the 323rd save of his illustrious carrer, Chapman also now sports a 4.00 ERA on the campaign.

Jorge Soler swatted two his in four trips to the plate, drove in a run and scored on another occasion, but St. Louis downed the Giants 9-4. The Cuban slugger’s bat has come to life as he is hitting a robust .333 of the last seven games.

Nick Castellanos launched his 11th homerun of the season and knocked in five runs to lead a Philadelphia 12-1 thrashing of the Diamondbacks. The Cuban-American slugger has now driven in 37 runs in spite of his .225 average on the season.

Yordan Álvarez went yard for the 16th time on the season, a two-run shot in the third inning off Corbin Burnes to do his part in Houston’s 5-1 win over the Orioles. Álvarez who no hits .292 on the campaign has also swatted 146 homeruns in only 556 games in his career.
