Mired in a season long slump Randy Arozarena’s bat has come to life as of late. In yesterday’s game the toolsy outfielder swatted a long homerun to key a Tampa 5-0 shutout of Washington. Over the last 15 games Arozarena hits a solid .294.
Although he gave up an earned run in the ninth inning, Aroldis Chapman secures his third save of the season in the Pirates 4-2 win over the Braves. The left-hander saw his ERA rise to 3.90 on the season, but did rescue the 324 game of his long and storied career.
Nick Castellanos collected four hits in five trips to the plate and knocked in three runs to do his part in Phillies’ 7-6 win over the Marlins. The Cuban-American outfielder has been hot of his last 15 games hitting a solid .322.
Jorge Soler collected two hits in four at-bats, drove in a run and scored twice to lead the Giants in a 10-4 thrashing of the arch-rival Dodgers. Cuban-American David Villar also helped the cause with a run-scoring double in the third inning and now hits .357 on the season.
