Elían Leyva tossed five innings of five hit ball in which he did not allow an earned run, while also striking out seven in Yucatán’s 7-1 win over Campeche. The right-hander notched his fifth victory of the season and also watched his ERA descend to 3.50 on the season. Going into the playoffs Leyva is going to be an integral part of the Leones pitching corps.
His teammate and countrymen Yadir Drake aided his cause with a seventh inning double that brought in two runs. The slugger has now driven in 45 runs on the campaign.
Lázaro Alonso collected two hit in four trips to the plate and scored twice to do his part in Durango’s 11-3 win over Chihuahua. The native of Pinar del Río, Cuba is now hitting .317 and has been a great late season addition to the Caliente’s lineup.
