Pedro León is called up to the Big Leagues by Houston.

Pedro León has been called-up to the big leagues as reported by our colleague and field reporter Javier González of our sister page Pelota Cubana USA. This makes León the 30th Cuban to see action in MLB on the season, leaving the antilleans only three shy of tying their single season record of 33.

The outfielder has earned his way to the majors this season by swinging a potent bat. In 90 games this season with the Sugarland Space Cowboys (AAA) the slugger is hitting .297 with 19 homers, 74 runs batted in, 23 stolen bases and is slashing .377/.519/.896.

Expect León to be given a shot at securing a litany of playing time at centerfield, especially after the Joey Loperfido trade to the Bluejays opened a spot for the talented Cuban on the roster and in the outfield. The five-tool prospect was an international free agent signing by Houston in 2021, when he agreed to a four million dollar bonus with the team from Space City.
