Plenty of Cubans change addresses during the trade deadline.

With the trade deadline ending today a 6PM plenty of Cubans have seen themselves change addresses. Randy Arozarena, Miguel Vargas and Jorge Soler have been traded by their teams to other cities with deadline looming. Each player will be reinforcing teams looking to make a playoff run or stockpiling prospects for the future.

The first to be dealt was Randy Arozarena who was traded to the Mariners by the Tampa Bay Rays four days ago in exchange for right-hander Brad Hopkins and outfielder Aidan Smith. Since joining the team Arozarena is hitting .455 since his arrival with ballclub and figures to be a key piece in Seattle’s quest for a playoff birth.

Miguel Vargas on the other hand was acquired by the Chicago White Sox yesterday with Alexander Albertus, Jeral Pérez and a player to be named later from the Dodgers in exchange for Michael Kopech in a three team trade also involving St. Louis. Vargas is hitting .239 on the season with three longballs and nine runs batted in and figures to be a future building block for the pale holes.

In Soler’s case he was acquired late yesterday by Atlanta as reported by several sources with Luke Wilson in exchange for Tyler Matzek and Sabin Ceballos . The Cuban slugger also played for the Braves in 2021, also coming over as a trade deadline acquisition. That season Soler came up big for the team, leading them to World Series and winning MVP of the fall classic. This season the outfielder is hitting .240 with 12 homers and 40 RBIs.
