Andy Martín continues to shine in a Lotte win. (+Asian League Report)

Andy Martín collected two hits in three trips to the plate and walked on an occasion during Chiba Lotte’s 7-3 win over Yakult. The multi-tooled outfielder has looked very solid over his first 14 games with the team hitting a solid .282 over that span.

The toolsy outfielder has impressed the team’s brass during his short time with the team and will return to the team’s farm system next season with a shot to make the big ballclub out of spring training. If allowed by Chiba there is a good possibility that Martín might see action in a winter league.

Río Gómez tossed two innings of scoreless and hitless ball to notch his 18th hold of the season in Wei-Chaun’s 5-3 victory over Rakuten. The left-hander from Miami fanned three hitters and also saw his ERA descend to 0.85 on the campaign. Gómez has easily been the most effective foreign reliever in the Chinese circuit.
