Yordan Álvarez’s hit three longballs yesterday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia to contribute to a Houston 10-0 blanking of the Phillies. The powerful slugger of the becomes the first Cuban player in the major league history with three games of three homers or more during his career. Álvarez also, drove in four runs, scored three times and now hits a robust .311 on the season.
Randy Arozarena collected three hits in four trips to the plate, including his 18 longball of the season. The outfielder also knocked in a run and scored twice to do his part in Seattle’s 6-2 win over the Rays. Arozarena is now hitting .308 over his last seven games and is two homeruns from a fourth straight 20-20 season.
Nolan Arenado swatted two hits in five at-bats, drove in a run and scored on an occasion during the Cardinals’4-3 victory over the Padres. The third baseman has now knocked in 61 runs on the campaign and is now hitting .287 over the last month. Arenado is now a homerun shy of 340 for his career.
Jorge Soler went yard for the 17th time on the season in Atlanta’s 5-1 triumph over the Twins. The slugger now sports a .768 OPS on the campaign. Raisel Iglesias also tossed a scoreless inning in relief to lower his ERA to 1.33 on the season and has not allowed a run during the month of August.
