Roenis Elias tossed jewel at Changwon NC Park vs. NC Dinos in the KBO. The hurler threw seven innings of four-hit, no-run ball during an SSG 10-1 win which he fanned 10. For the Cuban left-hander, it was his second 10+SO outing of the season after also achieving the feat on July 8, 2023 against the Hanwha Eagles.
The 36-year-old Elías notched his seventh win of the campaign and saw his ERA descend to 4.08 on the season. The lefty has now struck out 106 on the season in 116 ⅔ innings pitched. SSG is now tied with the KT Wiz for the last playoff spot.
Guillermo Heredia helped his countrymen’s cause with three hits in five trips to the plate and two runs batted in. The outfielder who leads the KBO with a .360 average and added to his team record 192 hits in a season. The native of Matanzas, Cuba has definitely been the best offseason acquisition for the Landers.
In the CPBL Río Gómez continues to dominate. In today’s action the Cuban-American southpaw pitched two scoreless innings in which he allowed two hits and struck out four to do his part in Wei-Chaun’s 6-2 victory over the Uni-Lions. The lefty now sports a 0.88 earned run average on the season.
