Carlos Juan Viera tossed five innings of scoreless baseball in which he only allowed a run in Aragua’s 3-2 victory over Lara. The right-hander also fanned four, but did not factor in the decision for the felines. Viera exits his first start of the year with 0.00 earned run average.
In the LIDOM Henry Urrutia collected two hits in four at-bats and drove in a run in the Gigantes 6-0 blanking over their rival Águilas Cibaeñas. The 2022 batting champion saw his average rise to .333 on the campaign and figures to be a key part of the team’s offense this season.
In the Liga ARCO Yadir Drake went yard for the second time on the season, a two-run first inning bomb to lead Guasave to a 8-4 win over Navojoa in the first game of a doubleheader between the two teams. Although he is hitting a paltry .241, the Cuban slugger has now driven in five runs on the campaign. Navojoa was victorious 3-1 in the second game.
