Henry Urrutia swatted two hits and drove in a run in four trips to the dish. The 2022 league batting champion upped his average to .346, but the Gigantes del Cibao fell to .346 on the season. Urrutia is off to a strong start to the season and could be a key bat for the “Potros” on the season.
In the LVBP, Peter O’Brien went yard for the first time on the campaign, a three-run shot in the eighth inning to help cement Magallanes’ 7-1 win over arch-rival Caracas. Although he is hitting a paltry .143 the Cuban-American has knocked in nine runs on the young season.
In México Félix Stevens collected two hits in four trips to the plate, including a fifth inning run-scoring double to do his part in Los Mochis’ 8-4 victory over Guasave. The slugger from Havana raised his average to .206 on the season. Yasmany Tomás also helped the cause with a hit and a run scored in five at-bats.
