Yasmany Tomás went yard for the fourth time on the campaign, a two-run shot in the third inning. The slugger from Havana also drove in another run with a first inning single to lead Los Mochis to a 9-4 thrashing of the Charros de Jalisco in the Liga ARCO Mexicana de Béisbol. Tomás saw his average rise to .250 on the campaign.
Rogelio Quesada tossed six innings of four-hit, two-run ball to due his part in a Tren del Norte’s 9-2 win over Rivas and win his first game of the year. His teammates and countrymen Maikel Serrano and Alay Lago combined for six hits, three RBIs and three runs scored to do their part.
For Rivas Lázaro Alonso hit a titanic homerun, a solo-shot in the first inning to account for one of the Gigantes two runs on the evening. The slugger from Pinar del Río, Cuba now hits .333 on the young season. Alonso is expected to be a big part of Rivas’ offense on the campaign.
