Leonys Martín went yard for fourth time on the campaign, an eighth inning two-run, but La Guaira still fell to Islas Margaritas 8-7 in the LVBP. The slugger also knocked in two more runs on the evening via a fourth inning single. Martín watched his average rise to .297 and now has 15 runs batted in on the winter.
Martín was a prime offseason acquisition for the Tiburones and has lived up to the billing for the defending Venezuelan Winter League and Serie del Caribe champions. With the future additions of Art Charles and Yoan Moncada expect La Guaira to be in the think of things in the LVBP.
In Nicaragua Luis Medina collected a hit in two trips to the plate and scored two runs to do his part in Bóer’s 7-2 win over the Gigantes de Rivas. The infielder is now hitting .500 on the young campaign for the Indios.
