JC Escarra collected a hit in three trips to the plate and a drove in a run to do his part in the Águilas Cibaeñas’ 3-1 win over the their cross-town rival Gigantes del Cibao. The Cuban-American slugger is now hitting .313 and has been a key to the team’s resurgence as of late.
On a more serious note Cuban-American righty Jimmy Yacabonis was hit in the head by a throw from his countrymen, catcher Elih Marrero on a throw to second during the Toros del Este 6-5 loss to the Leones del Escogido. The hurler was okay after an examination by a doctor revealed that the injury was a contusion after all other tests were negative.
José Barrero continues to swing a hot lumber since the Choque de Gigantes. The Cuban infielder swatted a hit in three at-bats and scored a run in the Estrellas Orientales’ 3-2 loss to the Tigres del Licey. The slugger saw his average rise to .242 on the campaign.
