Yadiel Hernández debuted with the Águilas de Mexicali with two hits in four trips to the plate, one of the hits being a first inning solo-shot which turned our to be the difference in team’s 4-3 victory over Mazatlán. Hernández got off on the right foot after being cut loose by the Águilas Cibaeñas of the LIDOM.
Carlos Espinosa tossed five innings after his first start in the LBPRC in which he allowed four hits, an earned run and fanned six during Mayagüez’s 7-5 win over the Gigantes de Carolina. Espinosa notched his first win in a winter league and left with a 1.46 ERA after his initial outing.
JC Escarra swatted a run-scoring double in four at-bats and also scored on an occasion to do his part in Águilas Cibaeñas’ 6-5 triumph over the Toros del Este. The Cuban-American catcher who is hitting .308 has been a key cog in the team’s resurgence after a slow start on the campaign.
