Vladimir Gutierrez won his third game of the season after pitching five innings of four-hit, no-run ball to help the Águilas in their 12-3 thrashing of the Toros del Este. The righty fanned two and saw his earned run average fall to 3.79 on the season.
Cuban-American JC Escarra helped his teammate and countrymen with three hits in four trips to the plate and drove in three runs. The catcher now hits a solid .305 on the season. Escarra who has been a major part of the team’s resurgence after a slow start is scheduled to leave the team on December 23.
In the LVBP Frank Medina notched his second victory of the season after tossing 2⅓ innings in which he allowed two hits, no earned runs and struck out two ro secure an Aragua 10-7 win over La Guaira. The right-hander saw his ERA descend to 4.50 on the campaign.
In the LBPRC Eddy Álvarez went yard for the first time on the season and knocked in two runs to do his part in Caguas’ 9-0 blanking of San Juan. The Cuban-American infielder who recently joined the squad is hitting .250 on the season.
