Norge Ruiz continues to shine on the mound in Liga ARCO during Monterrey’s 5-2 win over Mazatlán. The right-hander tossed eight innings of four-hit, two-run ball to secure his second win of the campaign. The ex-big leaguer also fanned two and saw his ERA descend to 3.97 on the season.
Also in the Liga ARCO, Yadir Drake swatted two doubles in four at-bats and drove in four runs to do his part in Guasave’s 8-2 win over Mexicali. The outfielder from Matanzas, Cuba has now knocked in 32 runs to lead his team in that statistical category.
In the LIDOM and although the Águilas Cibaeñas fell to the Gigantes del Cibao 8-4 JC Escarra continued to torture the league’s pitching. The Cuban-American catcher collected three hits in five trips to the plate, two of the being longballs and also knocked in two runs to watch his average rise to .322 on the season.
In the LVBP José Ramón Rodríguez pitched six scoreless innings in which he only allowed five hits and struck out four in Anzoátegui’s 11-1 thrashing of the Bravos of the Islas Margaritas. The righty saw his earned run average fall to 3.60 and has now won five games on the season.
